"Food and service was impeccable. From what I understand, everything is made from scratch, right down to the salad dressing, which is delicious. I definitely recommend this place if you are in the Kalona, Iowa area. I would also recommend reservations, but they are not necessary. Update: I recently went back. It turns out that you can order individual lamb chops as an appetizer. I'm not sure if this is a new thing or I just noticed it, but they are amazing! I have had lamb chops all over the country and these are the best I've ever had, even better than my personal home-made ones, which is saying something. I am now addicted."

"Very very good meal, even with the limitations.

My wife and I went here for the first time last night. We loved the atmosphere, staff, service, and food. I had the chicken marsala which I thought was done perfectly. My wife had the salmon which she thought was also perfect.

Our waitress was very pleasant and she seemed to be completely focused on us having a great experience. She took the time to help us decide on an appetizer. The shrimp bruschetta was amazing! In the course of our meal I noticed her and the other servers taking their time with other guests. I also noticed them walking very quickly when they weren't at a table. This is clearly the result of proper coaching by the owners and is much appreciated by their guests.

Tuscan Moon has an excellent wine selection and the owner apparently has a reputation as a bit of an amateur somelIier. I was hoping to have the owner pick a wine for me, but at the last minute my wife suggested a beer. I will be having wine next time!

As far as the limitations there are two.

The first is that they have a very limited menu. Which is understandable given that they are not a huge restaurant chain.

The second limitation is that all of their desserts are good, but not all are exceptional. Specifically the Tiramisu was a good solid Tiramisu, but my wife felt that it was a bit sweet for her taste.

"One of my favorite spots regardless of location! Wonderful atmosphere whether you are seated inside or outside on the patio.

Cocktails are pretty solid BUT if you are a wine lover then you will not be disappointed. There is a very good selection to choose from and the owners are always happy to offer suggestions if you ask. (I like wine but i am a beer guy by trade).

Wonderful features are offered every evening but my absolute favorites on the weekend menu are the beef filet with garlic mashed potatoes, chicken marsala, and shrimp and scallops.

If you happen to be at tuscan moon on a weekday then make certain to order the 2nd best reuben i have ever eaten. Thursday night pork ribs is also a favorite. The Iceberg wedge salad with blue cheese dressing reminds me of the one served at the old Lark Supper Club in Tiffin!( back in the day) Yum!

In all, you come here and you will be greeted by the owners and have a fantastic experience ( flavor + atmosphere) overall."

"I'd highly recommend this spot! The food was all dynamite. We had crab cakes and pork belly appetizers... the crab cakes were phenomenal. The perfect amount of flavor balance between crab, some heat, the buttery crunch - really just excellent. The pork belly was cooked to perfection paired with maple syrup, good enough that even our 6yo & 4yo kids enjoyed it! For dinner, the rack of lamb was fabulous and a large portion (my sisters choice). I had the beef tenderloin accompanied by sautéed veggies and a baked potato. The beef... perfect medium rare and oh so delicious. For a special occasion, this was a great choice and we will be going back to this hidden gem down in Kalona."

"Incredible steakhouse! Every single dish was phenomenal! Our server didn't blink an eye when we had questions about the ingredients as my husband can't have most starches. She even was quick to make alternative suggestions. Wonderful date night place. We did bring our three children but we went early right at opening and our older kids had their iPads.
